The Detroit Experiment

Starts galactic with a strong kick and an echoed cry of Marcus Belgrave’s trumpet.  Instant catch of attention as it’s different from anything heard before. It just doesn’t stop being impressive till it’s very end. It’s an amazing blend of artists coming from different music styles, but all Detroit souls. This limit pushing release is a follow up to The Philadelphia Experiment, which you could hear in some of my previous posts. Highly recommended!

The Detroit Experiment is the self-titled jazz/electronic album, released in 2003. for Ropeadope records, resulting from a collaborative project including DJ/producer Carl Craig, saxophonist Bennie Maupin, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, pianist Geri Allen, and violinist Regina Carter, all natives or longtime residents of Detroit, Michigan.
